In 2009, Groupon was a seven-person team confined to a small space in Chicago. In preparation for testing in San Francisco, the first city outside of Chicago to receive the now ubiquitous deal-a-day emails, Firebelly upgraded the Groupon site from a WordPress blog format to a sophisticated website offering a top-notch user experience. Groupon registered an 800% increase in sales within one week of launching the new user interface. Seven people grew to 100 in just four months, and two and half years later they numbered over 4,000 worldwide, prompting Forbes Magazine to announce Groupon the fastest growing company ever.
